On November 5th, I had to say goodbye to one of my beloved ferrets again...

Nora, my albino, developed a mass of fluid in her lung and it was causing pressure on her heart. The vet hospitalized her, gave her meds and antibiotics to try and change her condition. Several hours later, the drugs had had no effect and she was still getting worse. We came in later that evening to see what the doctor wanted to do since they didn't have over night care. Nora was practically in a coma and the vet seriously didn't think she would last the night, much less till Monday when test results would have returned on the mass for surgery. With tears, we made the decision to ease her suffering.

I hate saying goodbye to my ferrets...it breaks my heart and shatters my soul. And that pain only grows when I have to watch Harle, Nora's playmate and sister, nose through covers and search through corners in hopes of finding her sister who has vanished to her...

Though I'm not ready to even try and fill the empty void yet, I feel we must get another ferret for Harle's sake and sanity.
